Fifth Gear: Nissan GT-R Video

This video is some months old now but since we are trying to collect all Nissan GT-R videos worth watching we are including this since it's a great video about the GT-R.

Let me start out with pointing out that Fifth Gear also thinks that this super car is a barging since it will scare the Porsche 911 Turbo. They also points out that the car have got more technology then the whole of Tokyo.

But what they think is the most fantastic about the car is not the mind blowing power but the fact that it's a car that is easy and pleasurable to drive. It's not impossible to get a clear view from the car and you are not being shaken to bits and peaces like most other super cars. But I must say many other reviewers have stated that the dampers are too hard for normal roads outside Japan, and that's even in the when they are set to comfort.

The specifications
Time to crunch some Nissan GT-R numbers for all you specification junkies out there (yeah I'm one to :P).

The engine is a Twin Turbocharged 3.8 liter V6 and it produces 473 horsepower’s, however this figure varies between engines since each engine is hand built. Most reports state high horsepower figures which is really nice.

This engine enables the car to go 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and it only takes 11.7 seconds to the quarter mile. The top speed is 192 mph.

The gearbox is a twin-clutch gearbox which enables the gearbox to change gears in 0.2 seconds, i guess this works much the same as the VW/Audi DSG gearbox.

Nissan GT-R on the Top Gear Track Video

Yesterday was a big day for the Nissan GT-R as it got it's chance to prove itself on the Top Gear Test Track in the hands of the tame racing driver the Stig.

We already know that the GT-R is much faster then it's price tag suggests as it made it's way around the N�rburgring in 7:29 which is really fast.

So with the results in hand we can say that the GT-R managed the test track in 1:19.7 placing at at place 7 on the Power Board. To see the list of which super cars it beat view this wikipedia article.

As a bonus this video starts out with Jeremy Clarksson testing the GT-R on the Fuji race circuit. The thing is he never was able to finish the segment because the in a sharp turn his neck wasn't able to cope with the G-forces and subsequently he damaged his neck.

Subaru WRX vs Lancer Ralliart vs Mazdaspeed 3 Video

Today we have a video from edmunds Inside Line where they put they put three reasonably priced powerhouses against each other.

The cars are the Subaru WRX, the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and finally the Mazdaspeed 3. All three are small reasonably priced hot hatches that want to deliver a fun to drive car, but who is the best of the three.

My pick of the bunch would be the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart because I think it's the best looking out of the three.

Fiat 500 Abarth on the Track Video

Here we have a video of two lovely Fiat 500 Abarth's playing on the race track. With the currently sky high gas price the Fiat 500 Abarth is a very sensible little race car that don't have cost a fortune to drive hard like most other big cars.

The engine powering the car is a 1.4 liter 16 valve DOHC engine by Fiat which produces 135 horsepowers. Compared to the standard Fiat 500 the 500 Abarth is lower to look sportier.

Would be fun to see a test versus the Mini Cooper S, we don't have that at the moment but we have a comparison between the Fiat 500 and the Mini One.

Great looking commercial for the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. The name LP560-4 stands for the fact that it has 560 horse powers and that it is four-wheel-drive. As you can see especially on the front of the car it is heavily inspired by the
Lamborghini Reventon.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 gets it's 560 horse powers from a new 5.2L V10 engine with FSI direct injection, this engine is heavily based on the new Audi RS6 V10 engine. Compared to the ordinary Gallardo the car has four-wheel-drive and is 20 kg lighter. The price for this beast is around US $222,000, but according to the commercial this car will give you loads of numbers to beautiful women.

Volkswagen Scirocco Track Footage Video

This is a new video of the Volkswagen Scirocco and compared to the last video this one is on the racetrack so we get to hear some tire noise.

Compared to the last video which contained loads of action as the Scirocco played chicken race against the police this video is not so action packed. But instead we get to see the car do some high speed driving on the racetrack and even though it might not be the best race car it certainly looks like fun driving it.

As I stated in the previous post on the Scirocco I think the exterior is really nice and especially considering it's a Volkswagen. And the exterior of the car is even more enhanced by being on a racetrack.

Audi R8 vs Corvette Z06 Video

Here we have a street supercar shootout in the shape of Audi R8 versus Corvette Z06. Judging by the plates and names in the credits it's a couple of Arabs that have spent their oil dollars wisely by buying themselves a supercar each.

Now as you might know the Audi R8 lies close to my heart so the outcome of this video is now that I hopped for since the Corvette Z06 seems to be faster regardless the conditions.

But I must say that I think the styling of the Z06 is much better than the previous generations of Corvette's.

Terry Grant Stunt Driving Video

This is a video of Terry Grant doing some stunt driving for the Renault F1 team and apparently he will be traveling with the F1 team around the world and do these kind of shows. So if you like what you see in the video there is a good chance that you could be able to experience it first hand.

In the video you will see Terry Grant showing of in his purpose build Renault Clio and the most amazing thing is how he jumps out of the cars and runs to the crowd while the car is still laing donuts on the parking lot. But you can be safe they have a remote control for the car which enables them to shut the engine if anything happens.

Inside the Mazda Furai Video

We haven't heard much about the Mazda Furai since we wrote about it when it was unveiled in January in Detroit.

But now we have a video taken from inside the Furai as it does a couple of laps around the Buttonwillow Raceway Park in California. The sound produced from the 450 hp Wankel engine powered by E100 ethanol is just mind blowing, I cant imagine a engine sounding more evil then this.

If you can turn up the volume as much as you dare.

Lets take a look at the "toys" that police forces around the world have at their disposal. Let me say that this is no bad toys, it's amongst the most exclusive and expensive cars around. And most of the cars looks even more bad ass when they have recieved the police styling treatment.

To say the least the polices standing next to the cars looks pretty damn pleased with their cars and I could certainly make a carer switch just to have the chance to drive one of these suckers.

POV F1 Crash Video

You might have seen several F1 crashes on television but have you ever seen a POV (Point of View) F1 crash?

Well this video shows the view of Heikki Kovalainen when his front left tire explodes as he enters a tight turn in 150 mph or 240 km/h.

If you just want the action skip to 1:00 to see the POV part of this F1 crash. I can report that it took 10 minutes to get him out of the car but he was ok even though he could not remember what happened.

This is the first HD video we have to offer on the BMW E92 M3 and boy is this video a pleasure to watch, crystal clear image and a beautiful car, life could not be better right now.

The version being tested in this video is the 420 hp V8 that does 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. And the tester states that the acceleration is strong and impressive, its literally as if the car is ready to take if.

On the downside they don't like the engine sound, it just doesn't sound like a proper powerful V8, the engine whines as if it was supercharged. Also the breaking power fades quickly which is bad news in a car as powerful as this one.

Audi Q5 - Driving footage Video

Today the auto freak in me is shining really bright and therefore you get this video of the new Audi Q5, the little sister of the huge and mean Audi Q7.

During the last year we have seen some leaked images, renders and highly camouflaged test mules but now we got to see the real deal driving around in the dessert.

Audi claims the Q5 is the sportiest SUV in it's class and that is probably true since the only premium competition in the class must be the BMW X3 which is older then the water we drink. Also the Q5 is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddles on the steering wheel.

Now the question is should you buy the VW Tiguan or the Audi Q5?

2008 Volkswagen Scirocco Video

If you thought the Audi Q5 video was a bit slow and borring you will love this video for the 2008 Volkswagen Scirocco.

I think WorldCarFans summed up the video in a great way. "Hand-brake turns, playing chicken with cops and burn-outs are outright applauded! Throw in a helicopter and secret police (in high heels) and you have us shaking at the knees".

The 2008 Volkswagen Scirocco is going on sale sometime during the second half this year and at a starting price of Euro 21,750 it's and affordable sports car. And in white it's one great looking car except for one thing and thats the interior style that is more or less identical to the horrific VW Golf 5 interior. I cant understand that they create a good looking exterior and totally ignore the interior that looks like one from the 80's, in fact it's even worse the Toyota interiors that are really bad in my opinion.

But in this video they focus on the exterior of the car so you can enjoy the best parts of the car.

BMW X6 Promotional Video

The flow of new car videos is a bit slow at the moment so we are resorting to some older videos at the moment. This is the promotional video for the BMW X6 which have just been released for sale which is part of why we are featuring it today. The other reason for featuring the BMW X6 is that we like the design that is anything but conservative. In recent years I have been very disappointed with the BMW design language which except for the BMW M3, the BMW Z4 and the M6 only have given us a bunch of boring looking cars. But the X6 is definitely not boring and it really stands out from the competition with it's radically leaning back which is very untypical for the SUV segment.

In this promotional video we will see the a beautifully red version of the X6 driving around roads, cities and some beautiful landscape, business ass usual that is. But it doesn't matter when you get to see a beautiful car.

Do you agree with me or do you think the car is ugly, let me know in the comments.

Fifth Gear BMW M3 Review Video

For all you petrol heads we know this video is soon 6 months old but we forgot to feature it when it came out and because of the fantastic BMW M3 Revolution ad we found it again. And since it's a perfect fit for our collection of BMW E92 M3 videos we have to feature it.

It's Tiff Needell from Fifth Gear that got the lucky task of reviewing the BMW M3. And no surprise is he impressed by the new V8, he even states that the new engine is greener and also more economic, at least a little.

We don't get much of a judgment on the car but judging by his driving and all the praise we think it's safe to say that he thinks it's a good car.

Fifth Gear Jaguar XF Review Video

Jaguar could have easily written themselves out of the history books if they had got the XF wrong - but they haven't, that is according to the British show Fifth Gear which is obviously a bit biased but I think they are right.

Even though design and looks are highly personal I and many with me think that Jaguar have created a really good looking car. And as they say in the video people thinks it reminds much of a Aston Martin and that is definitely not a bad thing in my world. Fifth Gear really loves the interior and I must agree with them it have that British luxury feeling that you want and some really nice features that no other car have, when you have watched the video you will know what I mean.

I don't have much to say about the handling and comfort of the car since I haven't driven it (yet, hope to do it soon) but Fifth Gear sure does seem to like the engine and transmission and how they work together. But they point out that the V6 diesel that they are testing is definitely the slowest car in the segment and that the BMW 5 will kick it's but all over town. I guess if you buy the Jaguar you care more about comfort then you do about performance.

This is a new video from Winding Road Magazine and it features the New Jaguar XF that has recently gone on sale and the Cadillac CTS that have been on the market for about a year.

You can read the May 2008 issue online to get more facts about the Jaguar XF and the Cadillac CTS and which one is the better car.

This is just a beautiful shoot video of two beautiful cars but the article from winding road is a real pleasure to read so I really urge you to go read it, the article starts on page 80. To get you interested they talk about the XF and CTS as the other two guys compared to the German trio and how if Jaguar and Cadillac plays their cards right could be the premium segment leaders.

With the Mi. To Alfa Romeo will be entering the very competitive supermini segment where it will compete with cars like the BMW 1, Mini One, Fiat 500 and Peugeot 207 to name a few.

If this car will make it's way to the US along with the 8C is not known but perhaps, the car will at least be sold for about $21,000. As you can see the styling is very influenced by the design of the 8C Competizion.

This video is definitely bad ass plain out crazy, what else could you say about a bunch of monster trucks, dirt bikes and baja trucks jumping side by side over and beneath each other?

Seeing them all in the air at the same time makes it look more like a video game than something that actually was performed for real.

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Video

Finally we have a video of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 which is the third generation generation. We have seen numerous "leaked" images and a heap of spy photos of the SRT8 but not until this spring we got a video of this retro muscular car.

The 2008 Challenger SRT8 shares many design elements with the first generation Challenger from the 70's. It features a 6.1 liter Hemi V8 that generates 425 horsepowers and it's based on the same platform as the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger. The car goes from about $38.000.

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider Video

Alfa Romeo recently released this video containing driving footage of the all so beautiful upcoming Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. The 8C Spider is the cabriolet version of the 8C Competizione which was first presented as a concept car in 2003.

The 8C Competizione went on sale last year and the 8C Spider will go on sale sometime this year. The spider version is basically the same car as the coupe but with the slightly lower top speed of 290 km/h. It uses electro-hydraulics to open or close the roof with the touch of a button.

As with the 8C Competition the car features a 4.7 liter V8 which produces around 440 horsepowers and delivers 480 Nm of torque which is delivered using a 6-speed automatic gearbox that can be operated via paddles behind the steering wheel.

My comment to this car is that this is one brutal cabriolet that looks really stunning and will definitely turn heads this summer if they release it in time for the season.

Fifth Gear and Tiff Needell takes the Lexus IS-F for a test drive on road and track.

In short it seams like Tiff loved the beefy 5.0 liter V8 and it's roaring sound. The gearbox was another story since it kept "Bleeping" at him when he upshifted and downshifted and also he only used 5 of the 8 gears on the track. All in all he had a smile in his face and said it was a very good effort by Lexus.

Five Axis Lexus IS-F Video

For the SEMA convention Five Axis got a request from Lexus to produce a project car based on the Lexus IS-F that emphasized the performance aspect of the vehicle. The result is a completely restyled Lexus IS-F with a 6 inch Wide Body kit with a custom satin black pearl paint and satin bronze details.

Except for the exterior styling the car is completely stock but performance upgrades is coming in the feature if Lexus wants it, were holding our fingers crossed since this is one bad ass project car.

The Rinspeed sQuba Concept is the first submersible car in the world, and if that's not enough the sQuba is a zero emission electric roadster. Yes I know it sounds wacky combining a roadster with the functionality of a submarine but it's true and the video will prove that Rinspeed actually made such a vehicle.

The action starts at 2:30 so you can skip to this part directly and see the car drive into the water and start traveling underneath the water. It doesn't look like they are going particularly fast but they are traveling beneath the surface with a roadster.

Amazing Suzuki Jeep Stunt Jump Video

Some people are plain crazy, and you can see it just from looking at them. This dude has built a large jump in the woods and hang out with his buddies and a Suzuki Jeep.

Don't know if it's beer he is drinking but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Anyway he puts the jeep in reverse getting some distance from the jump and then hits the speed maximum against the jump. The jump makes an insanely great jump and it's surprising that nothing is destroyed on the car.

Last time we wrote about the Tesla roadster was when they arranged a test drive of the prototype, but this time it's the production car that is being tested.

All 650 Tesla roadsters planned for 2008 production is already reserved and the first batch of cars will be delivered in the first quarter of the year and a few lucky Americans will get their new environmental friendly toy. The Tesla Roadster goes for a stinging $100,000 but it's definitely more exclusive then most Ferrari and Lamborghini's on the market.

The video is from Autobloog Green as they visited the Tesla headquarters to meet the company and most importantly take the roadster for a spin. By looking at the post from their visit I am only disappointed on one point with the roadster and that is the all to spartan interior of the car, if I were to put out $100,000 I would definitely expect something more from the interior.

Either way we are very excited about the future of Tesla and even though we think it will be very though they could make it and become an established auto maker but it will take time and serious money to play nice with the other more established companies.

Cadillac Provoq Concept Video

The Cadillac Provoq Concept car was first shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this January before it attended the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Cadillac Provoq is interesting in many aspects but perhaps mostly because it's a great look at the Cadillac CTS bassed crossover that is coming sometime 2009 - 2010. The Provoq concept is buillt on the General Motors E-Flex platform which also will power the coming Saab 9-4X and the much hyped hybrid car Volt.

The Provoq is also a hybrid car but the production car will be an ordinary petrol car but it gives a clue about what hydrogen powered car can achieve in a not so distant future. The hydrogen engine drives no less then three electric engines, a main engine located in the front on 70 kW and two 30 kW engines in the rear, one on each rear wheel. Cadillac states that the 130 kW or 177 hp will be enough to give the car an acceleration of 0-60 on 8.5 seconds. The car have many features to make it slice through the air ass effective as possible, the active grill only opens when the engine needs cooling to keep the aerodynamics optimal when the engine don't need the cooling.

The design clearly builds on the Cadillac CTS but most design elements have been taken one step further.

In the video we get an interview with Eric Clough, GM Director Interior Design for the Provoq concept and he guides us through the concept and the techniques that lay underneath the surface.

This is something this man learned the hard way, no serious accident and he was probably ok after falling out of his offroad vehicle but he probably had to do some repainting to get back the color on the vehicle.

BMW E93 M3 Convertible Video

If the ordinary E92 M3 is not good enough the perhaps you could settle with a E93 M3 convertible? Frankly I can only see one reason for choosing the convertible over the ordinary M3 and thats because you get less insulation between you and the gorgeous engine sound, in all other aspects the convertible has to be worse. But the M3 4.0L V8 do have a very sweet engine sound...

I found the video via autoblog that stats that BMW had to unveil the car because of substantial leakage of photos of the car.

2009 Hyundai Genesis Video

The Audi R8 is huge success for Audi and they are selling them like umbrellas on a rainy day but the most significant value for Audi is probably the increased attention on the brand and the resulting increase in sales of more standard cars.

For those rich enough to have anything to complain about on the Audi R8 they all say that they want more power, whats the solution? Well Audi thinks they can bend down a V12 TDI engine in the R8 and do some design changes to make the car look more evil.

The V12 TDI engine is taken from lasts year Q7 concept car which was 6.0L V12 Diesel. The new engine shreds 0.5 seconds of the 0-60 mph time which is now 4.2 seconds. The V12 TDI delivers about 500 horsepowers, but the interesting figure is the 738 lb-ft of torque which is class leading. Another interesting fact is that the car does 23 MPG which is about 1 liter/10 km, thats impressive.

Have you like us been drooling over the new Nissan GT-R the last months? The car has only been released on the Japanese market so far and therefore it's not intended for journalists from other countries to test the car just yet. But Edmunds didn't have the patience to wait for the American/European release so they went to Japan and borrowed a privately owned Nissan GT-R.

And judging by the article they wrote about the test drive they seem very pleased by the car. The Nissan GT-R goes from 0 - 60 mph in 3.3 seconds which is the same time needed by the Lamborghini Revent�n.

It's not everyday that you see a Mazda on display among our car videos, and it's not like we don't like Mazda it's just that they only have borring sensible cars.

Well the Mazda Furai is everything but borring, it looks like an alien and it's sound more evil than thunder. If I where to describe the Furai I would say it's everything that a Mazda is not, what do you think about that for a description?

This is a clip from Top Gear where they drive the super quick Caparo T1 which can best be described as a road legal F1 car.

The Caparo T1 was inspired by F1 design and intended as an affordable street legal race car, the price is estimated at US$ 480,000 (hows that for affordable). The car is powered by a 3.5-liter aluminum V8 engine which delivers 575 bhp at 10,500 rpm. With this engine the T1 does 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds.

When Top Gear drove the car on it's test track the Stig managed to beat the Koenigsegg CCX time with 7 seconds but was disqualified from the leader board because Jeremy Clarkson didn't think that the car was able to go over a sleeping policeman which is one of the requirements.

Lamborghini Revent�n is the latest supercar for the super rich people that can put up 1 million Euro to get a new toy to play with. The Revent�n debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show and it's the most powerful and expensive Lamborghini to date. It was only supposed to be built in 20 examples but the rumors believe that the number will be adjusted to 100 since the first 20 was sold out in no time.

When the Revent�n was unveiled in Frankfurt the CEO of Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann declared that it was a tribute to the success of the raging bull that have had a record year in 2007. The name is taken from the bull that killed the famous bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943. The exterior styling of the car was inspired by the F-22 Raptor and the result is the most badass outrageously cool car we have ever seen, there is no car on the market to compare this vulgar machine against.

Revent�n Facts
It's powered by a 6.5-liter V12 delivering 650 horsepowers to the 4-wheel drive system that makes it possible to extract every bit of the horsepowers available. The car is almost entirely made from carbon fiber to keep the wight down. All of this adds up to the Revent�n that makes 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and have a top speed of 211 mph or 340 km/h, we want to take it for a drive.
